Changsha New Port welcomes 10,000-ton cargo ships for the first time
On the afternoon of the 7th, a cargo ship "Xinglong 8899" loaded with 11,000 tons of cargo slowly docked at the 4th berth of Changsha New Port. This is the largest cargo ship that has been unloaded since Changsha New Port was put into operation, and it is also the largest cargo ship that has passed through the Xiangjiang River hub so far. This move marks a new level of Xiangjiang's navigation capability.
Previously, Changsha New Port berthed cargo ships with a maximum deadweight tonnage of 8,000 tons. The freighter "Xinglong 8899" that docked this time is 120 meters long, 21 meters wide, 6.5 meters deep, and has a maximum deadweight tonnage of 15,000 tons. It was shipped from Taicang Port, Jiangsu to Changsha New Port, and the cargo loaded was imported iron ore. According to Liu Shengbin, the person in charge of Changsha Yunde Logistics Co., Ltd., before transporting 10,000 tons of building materials from Shanghai to Changsha New Port, it needed to be transported in five 2,000-ton freighters, and the logistics cost totaled 400,000 yuan. Changsha New Port can stop 10,000-ton cargo ships and deliver 10,000 tons of building materials at one time, which can not only reduce unloading time, but also save 30,000 yuan in logistics costs.
The berthing of 10,000-ton cargo ships tests the management and service capabilities of the port. Before Changsha New Port, there were only five 5-ton cranes. When the port was busy with cargo, it could not meet the needs of cargo loading and unloading, which easily led to the detention of ships in the port. Now, Changsha New Port has switched to large-tonnage cranes, which can load and unload 500 tons of cargo in one hour, which greatly reduces the ship's detention time. The 11,000 tons of imported iron ore that arrived in Hong Kong today can fill more than 180 train cars, which are nearly 3 kilometers long, but can be loaded and unloaded in less than 24 hours.
According to the "Overall Layout Plan for the Main Hub of Changsha Port", Xingang Company plans to build 14 berths above 1,000 tons, with a total designed throughput capacity of 12 million tons. A special railway line connecting to Changsha North Station is currently under construction. After the line is opened, it will open up the "last mile" of iron-water combined transport, and can also reduce logistics costs by 20%.
According to the "Changzhou-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Metropolitan Area Development Plan" released in March this year, our province will further study and upgrade the level of the main channel of the Xiangjiang River, and strive to achieve the annual 3,000-ton navigation in the downstream section of the Xiangjiang River, Changzhou, Zhuzhou and Tan.
